Bunad silver Voss Girls Bunad

Voss Girls Bunad

The Bunad tradition in Voss has always been strong, and the variations in shirt, apron, belt and chest cloth often had a personal twist. Today the variations are smaller, but there is still a difference between married and unmarried. Unmarried women have no headdress, and the shirt has a white seam. The skirt has three narrow velvet ribbons around the edge, and a pearl belt with only one buckle is used. The Bunad has a white apron.

The silver: The shirt is held together with either a double neck button or a small brooch at the neck and a bigger brooch further down. The cuffs have cufflinks and the pearl belt has a nice belt buckle. Most of the silver is gilded with the exception of the neck button and cufflinks. Shoe buckles, a knife, a timepiece, earrings and a ring completes the picture.
