Bunad silver Samnanger Lady

Samnanger Lady

The waist piece for this Bunad is made in green or red velvet or damask. The waist piece is edged with hand-woven rose bands. The skirt is made in black fabric and is decorated with rows of black velvet ribbons. The chest cloth and belt is usually embroidered with pearls. The shirt and apron are white. A headdress and a coat are also used for this Bunad.

The silver: The shirt is fastened by a neck button at the neck and a quite big brooch at the chest. The waist piece is held together by three eyelets and an eyelet band in front of the chest cloth. This makes the brooches more prominent. Married women use belt plaques. There are cufflinks for the cuffs and a nice clasp for the coat. A ring, shoe buckles, a knife and an umbrella completes this Bunad.
