Bunad silver Sotra gentleman

Sotra gentleman

The gentleman's Bunad from Sotra derives from old folk costume traditions from the second half of the 1800s. It has changed a bit throughout the years. Today, a black, rather simple coat, and knee breeches in fulled woolen cloth is used. The Bunad has got an embroidered belt fastened with a buckle in front.

The silver: The coat has got a double row of 7 buttons in front. The vest has a double row of 9. In the shirt, a neck button with pendants and in the sleeves; silver cufflinks. The knee breeches have got 3 buttons in the flap in front and 3 on each knee lining. The belt buckle may be in brass or tin, but today it is most common to use silver. The pattern in the silver is the leaf rose theme. A knife, a timepiece and a chain completes the set.
