Austevoll gentleman

The gentleman's Bunad from Austevoll has got black or dark blue coat in woolen cloth. The vest is green with red and yellow stitches around the buttonholes. The breeches have got the same color as the coat and have no lining, but a flap that is buttoned in the front. The shirt is white with a white decorative seam on the collar and on the sleeves. One may also use a shirt with a high folding collar, this one without a decorative seam. Belt and suspenders are embroidered with wool, and perhaps pearls.

Silver: The silver for this Bunad is preferable in oxidized silver, but back in the day, one would use brass buttons and a gilded neck button. On the top of the breeches there are buttons for suspenders. At the knee lining there are three buttons and a buckle for fastening the breeches by the knee. The vest has got a double row of eighteen flat buttons. The coat has a row of eight slightly larger buttons on each side. In the shirt, there is a simple neck button, a pin on the chest and in the sleeves, cufflinks. In addition, a man should have a knife, and one might want to consider silver shoe buckles and a timepiece.
