Bunad silver Southern Buskerud Lady

Southern Buskerud Lady

This Bunad is from lower Buskerud and was launched in 1939 after a lot of work. The embroideries on this Bunad are designed by Halvdan Arneberg. He was inspired by the decorations on some old furniture from Eiker. The waist-dress, belt, cape, loose pocket and headdress are made of black woolen fabric.

The silver: For this Bunad you only use oxidized silver or silvered metal. At the front of the waist piece you will find 4 eyelets that are connected with an eyelet band. It is common to use a relatively big belt buckle at the center of the embroidered belt. Some also use a silver belt made especially for this Bunad. In the neck region on the shirt it is common to use a neck pin with crossed "teeth", and on the chest a dish brooch shaped as a star in filigree pattern. The cufflinks have the same pattern as the eyelets.
