Vestfold gentleman

The gentleman's Bunad from Vestfold does not exist in as many variations as the lady's Bunad. It is mainly The Red-shirt (Rødtrøye) that is used.

The silver is simple, buttons mostly. 12 small ones for the vest, 16 big and 6 small ones for the coat, and 5 big and 8 small ones for the pants. (The number of buttons may vary, so ask your tailor for the exact number.) Nowadays the neck button is most commonly used for the shirt, although it is possible to use the horn ring (Hornringen) from Telemark too.

The Horn rings have their name after the horns on each side of the horn pin. They are supposed to look like ox horns, a very masculine symbol. Earlier this was strictly a male brooch. Now both men and women use it.
