Bunad silver Fana gentleman

Fana gentleman

The male Bunad from Fana has a long tradition and a rich history. It has changed quite a bit from the 1800's up until today. Sometime around 1970s the old patterns were gathered and all the Bunads revised. Today we see a wide selection of reconstructed Bunads from several different eras. The picture shows only one of these Bunads.

The silver: Commonly one will use silver buttons with a leaf rose, coin buttons or brass buttons in the coat, vest and pants. In the shirt you'll find a simple neck button with pendants at the neck collar, and further down on the chest there will be a neck ring or a horn ring. The cufflinks have engraved the filigree-,coin- or leaf rose-pattern. On special occasions one may fasten a buckle on the hat. A knee buckles, shoe buckles, a timepiece and a chain belong with this Bunad as well.
